"Stand firm."
To God be the Glory for the great things HE has done in Kentucky this summer. He has used 1300 volunteers from all across the United States to impact an area in great need of physical and spiritual help. Through the efforts of these volunteers, almost 50 people gave their lives to Christ. Our teams were able to complete over 50 construction projects throughout three counties. Throughout the communities we served, hundreds of teenagers visited nursing homes, senior centers, and assisted with dozens of community service projects. These volunteers also assisted with several daycamps throughout the area. Many children were able to attend these daycamps and hear the message of Hope in Christ, while experiencing a positive, encouraging, and loving environment.
With that said, I truly believe the greatest impact from Big Creek 08 lies in the hearts of the students and adults who travelled from across the country to serve at Big Creek. Through the Word of God, worship, and working together, we all experienced a life-changing week of service. I regularly hear reports of groups that have been changed as a result of God's movement in individual lives. As we continue to stand firm - with arms high and hearts abandoned - God will continue to move and amaze us with his power.
Many thanks go out to the community leaders in Leslie, Clay, and Perry Counties, in addition to the hundreds of volunteers who gave their time. Thanks to the staff who worked LONG hours to promote a positive and encouraging environment at Big Creek.
Most of all, Thank you, Lord, for showing Your ability to use people like us to bring glory to Yourself.
Continue to pray for the director, board, and volunteers at Big Creek as we expand and grow into this ministry God has given us.
